What peptide therapy actually is
Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as signaling molecules. Some are long-established medicines: insulin, GLP-1 agonists and tesamorelin are all peptides with full FDA approval. Others are compounded research compounds with real mechanistic data and very little human trial evidence.
Treating those two categories as the same thing is the central mistake in how peptide therapy is marketed. At Organic Well, protocols are prescribed by a licensed provider after evaluation and labs, with the regulatory status of each compound explained before you consent to anything.
How it works, step by step
- 01Evaluation: training load, injury history, sleep, recovery, medications and goals.
- 02Baseline labs: metabolic markers, hormones, IGF-1, inflammation and, where relevant, body composition.
- 03Candidacy and consent: which peptides are FDA-approved for a given use, which are compounded, and what the human evidence shows.
- 04Protocol: dose, route, cycle length and monitoring plan, usually structured in 8–12 week blocks.
- 05Reassessment: symptoms, function and repeat labs determine whether the protocol continues, changes or stops.
Who it's for, and who it isn't
Likely a good fit: adults with slow recovery or persistent soreness despite sound training and nutrition, patients with body-composition or metabolic goals already supported by labs, and longevity-focused patients who want a monitored, time-limited trial with clear stop criteria.
Likely not a fit: anyone with active or recent malignancy, pregnancy or breastfeeding, uncontrolled endocrine disease, or a competitive athlete subject to anti-doping rules. Several peptides, including TB-500, are banned in sport.
What to expect at your first visit
The first appointment is a medical consultation. Nothing is prescribed on the day. You will leave with a clear picture of which labs are needed and what evidence exists for the options being considered. If a protocol is appropriate, we schedule a follow-up to start it, teach administration technique, and set the monitoring calendar.
Safety, side effects and contraindications
Common effects include injection-site irritation, transient water retention, fatigue or headache at the start of a cycle, and appetite changes with growth-hormone secretagogues. Growth-hormone pathway peptides can affect glucose regulation, which is why we monitor metabolic markers.
Sourcing matters as much as the molecule. Compounded peptides come from licensed compounding pharmacies with documented purity, never from online research-chemical suppliers. Several national regulators have issued advisories about unauthorized peptide products sold direct to consumers.
Pricing and insurance
Organic Well does not participate with insurance plans. Consultation, lab and protocol costs are reviewed with you before you commit, and superbills are provided for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Compounded medications are billed by the pharmacy.
Peptide therapy in Coconut Grove, Miami
We see patients from across Miami-Dade at 3661 S. Miami Ave, Suite 1003, and coordinate labs close to home for patients elsewhere in Florida. Miami has no shortage of clinics selling peptides. What is scarcer is a physician who will tell you when the evidence does not support the request.
